Welcome

The Democrats of Colorado House District 29 welcome you to our website. We’re proud to call Westminster home. The district includes the northern part of Westminster. The southern part of the city is in House District 35. We’re glad you found us!

We meet the second Tuesday of the month. We’re back to virtual meeting for Sept/Oct, while we reach out to our neighbors. We love to meet other Westminster residents who support Democratic issues, whether you’re a Democrat or Unaffiliated voter. Send us an email and we’ll let you know how to join us! Seriously, it works. We also have a Facebook page and private group.

Lori Goldstein was unanimously selected by the HD 29 vacancy committee to fill the remainder of Shannon Bird’s term in the CO House. She’s also the current president of the Adams 12 Five Star Schools Board of Education. Her opponent is using the hard times for public education against her, while touting what Westminster has done. We know who’s on the city council, and that last year our mayor won more that 50% of the vote against two opponents.

The house district is split between Adams and Jefferson County. In Jefferson County, Brittany Pettersen, former chair of Colorado’s House Education Committee, represents House District 7 in Congress. In the state house she passed the nation’s strongest Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, which is still a focus in the U.S. House.

Manny Rutinel is running for Congress in Adams County’s Congressional District 8. Click the link to learn about his stand on the issues and how you can help him win one of the tightest races in America.
Don’t believe the absurd PAC-sponsored ads making the current CD8 congressman look good. Gabe cast a crucial vote to cut social programs like SNAP and, coming next year, Medicaid, for lots of Adams County residents to give tax cuts to billionaires, who fund those PACs. Have you checked your health insurance premiums for next year yet? One of those ads talks about how much CO legislators make. Frankly, it’s disgusting.
Here’s a story, interviewing lawmakers across our state on both sides of the aisle, about how much legislators make. It’s worth a few minutes of your time.
It’s time we had someone who represented US in Congress, not Musk, Trump, and the other rich guys, on the Adams County side. Brittany does that in JeffCo. Gabe doesn’t. He won’t even do a town hall. Manny will work for all of US, too. “We, the people of the United States” are the first words in our constitution. This fall, vote to keep it that way, not hand more power to the oligarchs. In a tight race, every vote counts. Your vote counts.

Lindsay Daugherty (District 19 in JeffCo) represents the district in the Colorado Senate. William Lindstedt (District 25, Adams County) was also selected by a vacancy committee in December to fill the remainder of Faith Winter’s term. He was officially appointed by Gov. Polis on Dec. 30.

Worried about voting this year? You’re not alone. Check out the CO Dems page about this, and worst case, if you don’t get a ballot in the mail and you’re registered to vote click this link. (Voter fraud is a felony in CO and extremely rare.)

The best way to get involved is to become a precinct organizer. It’s a great way to get to know your neighbors and helps open doors within the party. For example, P.O.s in a state house or senate district are automatically on the vacancy committee. Use the Contact Page to get in touch.

If you’re already a P.O. check out the P.O. resources on ColoradoDems.org. There’s a new Reach app for us this year. Click the link and check it out! Once you’ve downloaded the app and submitted the form, be sure to look for “A Stronger Colorado” and join that. Once you have an account, you can also use a web browser with this link. Use our contact page if you have questions or need help. Adams County has a strong P.O. program. We like it, and think you will too, if you join.

If you’d like to donate to the House District 29 Democrats, here is the link to donate. Thanks in advance for your generosity!

Together we make a difference. We hope get to know you soon.

We’re living in one of the best cities in the country. Check out the dog park (and human ones, too), the public art, rec. centers, the Orchard Town Center, Westminster Promenade, Standley Lake, learn to golf or dance, join an exercise class, check out a book (including audio and e-books)…. Let’s keep making it better!
